Practice, Practice, Practice

golf islandLearn How Energy Psychology Can Improve Your Golf Game

We all have heard that practice makes perfect. The number one complaint of instructors is that most students of golf would rather be playing golf than practicing.

When we practice we are establishing a sound mind-body connection that can take a great deal of anxiety and stress away from the game. Our movements become “hard wired” and over time we perform by default. Our movements become one less thing to worry about.

There is no substitute for practice, however, if you are not as keen on practicing as your instructors would like you to be you can use a form of mental practice called Visual Motor Rehearsal (VMR). VMR was used with the Apollo Space Program to help astronauts practice and rehearse complex tasks. This concept was taken by Dr. Dennis Waitley PhD. and introduced to the Olympics in the 1980’s and 90’s. The results were astounding!

A group of Olympic runners were hooked up to biofeedback equipment to measure the brains electrical activity while physically performing a race. What resulted was that specific parts of the brain “fired” during performance. Likewise the same athletes were then asked to relax and visualize performing the same task and the results were the same. It made no difference if the athlete was actually running or imagining running. The brains activity was the same.

If you have been there in the mind you will go there in the body. Do not take our word for it. Give it a try.

Follow these steps:

  1. Identify an experience that you’d like to have. Perhaps it can be anything from the perfect shot to what you consider to be a perfect game.
  2. Get a vivid image of yourself having that experience and actually feel what it would be like to have it. Yell or jump for joy if you have to.
  3. Focus on the end-results ONLY! Do not let your mind go crazy trying to figure out how it’s going to happen (that’s not your job). All you have to do is identify, visualize (with feeling) then let it go.

Let us know how this work out for you!

Remember: When you visualize only consider the end result and focus on the feeling that would be generated as if you were already there.

Never underestimate the power of your own mind. After all the body will only do what the mind tells it to do.

In conclusion here are some heart warming quotes:
“Whatever the mind can conceive it can achieve” – W.Clement Stone 1902-2002
“Imagination is everything. It is the preview of life’s coming attractions.” Albert Einstein 1879-1955

This Will Be My Best Season Ever!

Sport PerformanceLearn How Energy Psychology Can Improve Your Game

If you do not believe that this will be your best season ever, it will not happen!

You will never perform better than what you believe. The real catch is that what you believe is actually beliefs you picked up from other people. Your beliefs are not your own. You learned them! When performing in your sport of choice you are literally doing so with your parents, school teacher, school bully, your boss, friends and other experiences from your life.

These experiences are all stored in your subconscious mind and are played to reinforce what you hold to be true about yourself, which will affect your performance.

To remedy this situation an athlete must become congruent with what they consciously want and subconsciously hold to be true. Conflict between our conscious and subconscious is where the true “mental game” is played. With only a few minutes of Reboot Tapping congruence can be achieved and performance enhanced.

As Henry Ford put it:
"Whether you think you can or whether you think you can’t,
you are going to be right".

Should You Take Up Pole or Nordic Walking?

pole walking
pole walking
  • Have you ever heard or seen people walking with poles?
  • Why would they do this?
  • Do they use ski poles?

Why would you want to take up pole or nordic walking? What’s different to regular walking? The reason people use poles is that not only does it make walking more beneficial, but it actually takes less effort and is easier on our  bodies.

We use less than 50% of our  major muscles when we walk without walking poles – when we use fitness walking poles we use over 90%. In doing so we spread our weight out helping to lessen the load with which we hit the ground by 26% – making a big difference for those people who have back, hip, knee, ankle or feet problems.

While walking with poles we walk naturally align our spine and strengthen our core with each step – helping us to stand and sit taller.

We also don’t have to go as far or work as hard when we are using walking poles. We increase our cardio by 20% and our calorie burn by up to 48% without any more effort!

What more could you want? Oh! and you can do it in less time too—30 min of Pole walking is equal to 50 min of regular walking. It’s one of the most beneficial and rewarding activities you’ll ever do!

And no, they don’t use ski poles. These pole a specially made for walking and come with different feet, depending on the terrain and season.

Biorhythms are biological cycles that begin at birth and influence us all our lives. Each cycle starts at birth at an imaginary horizon line and then alternates from a high period (above the horizon) when our energies and abilities are high, to a low period (below the horizon) when our energies and capabilities are reduced. The 2 days where each cycles crosses over that horizon line are called critical days, when the cycle is crossing from positive to negative and from negative to positive. During these critical days our abilities and energies fluctuate wildly and we are more accident prone, and more apt to make the wrong decisions.

Biorhythm Cycles

Knowing our Biorhythm Cycles helps us make plans and decisions. For example:

  • scheduling an important job interview when our intellectual cycle is at its peak
  • having an operation when the physical cycle is at its peak
  • or just looking back at what went wrong and how we can prevent it from happening the next time
  • helping with sports performance, is the game scheduled for a critical day or am I at my physical high for that day

For a more in depth look at Biorhythm read the in depth article about Biorhythms. Do you find that Biorhythms give you accurate feedback about what’s going on in your life? We would like to hear about it.

There are four Biorhythm Cycles that influence different functions and abilities.

The 4 Biorhythm Cycles

Physical 23 days stamina, co-ordination, basic body functions, immunity to disease, strength, speed
Emotional 28 days moods, creativity, mental stability, sensitivity
Intellectual 33 days judgment, logic, mental alertness, conceptual ability, decision making, memory recall, ability to learn, analytical functions
Intuitional 38 days unconscious perception, hunches, instincts, sixth sense

The Reboot Tapping Sequence

Recently we have moved away from traditional EFT tapping to Reboot Tapping, a turbo charged, modified version of Robert Smith’s FasterEFT. Reboot Tapping is non-invasive and easy to learn, anyone can do it and it can be used for anything.

The best part is that it is just as effective if it is done virtually by imagining tapping the sequence, rather than actually doing it. This is very helpful in sports as nobody around you will see what you are doing, but you can use it right when you need it the most to give you that extra boost or calm you down.

  • Focus on your problem. Feel it (image, sensation, sounds) Stay in tune with it and make it as strong as you can.
  • Rate the intensity from 0-10 (0=gone, 10=big problem)
  • Close your eyes and picture in your mind’s eye that you are holding a bunch of balloons in your hand tied with a string. Notice the colors and shapes.
    • open your hand and let go of the balloons
    • watch them float away, high up until they have disappeared
    • open your eyes

The Sports Energetic Process for Complete Injury Recover

Whenever you are injured there are three areas that need to be addressed at a cellular level:

1. Trauma to the Body

The first area of an injury to address is the trauma to the body. The immediate trauma settles into the receptors of the cells of the traumatized area. The trauma will remain there until it is signaled to be released. Accompanying trauma is adrenaline, pain and fear. After the trauma, pain and fear have subsided you may feel that they have been released from your cells receptors. The truth of the matter is they are still there and the cells must be signaled to release them.

2. Emotions

Whenever you are injured there is an emotional response. It can be called the “holy #*@t moment”. It is a direct result of an injury and the impact of what has just happened. There usually is a flood of thought s and emotions regarding what the injury could possibly mean to you and your future as an athlete. Typically you can experience, anger, fear, embarrassment, fear of re-injury, or even fear of death. These emotions are chemically represented in the body and can get stuck in cell receptors. In order to fully recover from any injury, no matter how small, these chemicals (emotions) must be released form the cell receptor sites.

3. Memory of Protection

Immediately after an injury the body forms a memory of protection to keep the injured part of the body safe. Typically a person will hold themselves a certain way causing the body to adapt around the injury. When the injury heals the body must be signaled to release the memory of protection. Unless the memory of protection is released the body will never return to a balanced and the body will remain in the adaptive state. The chances of re injuring yourself in this state are great. This will cause you to hold back athletic performance in order to prevent re-injuring the site.

Reboot Tapping can be used on current injuries, past injuries and range of motion issues.

Reboot Tapping addresses the three core components of an injury allowing the body to completely process out the emotional, physiological and bio-chemical factors.

E-Motions of Competition

The mental game as it pertains to sports performance has progressed to mean so much more than relaxation, meditation, visualization or getting “in the zone”. There are many books and articles that state how such things can improve your game, and they probably do, however, these terms are becoming outdated and now fall under the activities that would be considered practice.

At Sports Energetic we look at the mental game for what it is, “cognitive congruence”, between what we desire consciously and what we hold to be true subconsciously. If these two levels of consciousness are not congruent you will always have conflict. These conflicts will show up physiologically and will affect performance in any sport. Making changes at this level will have personal, long lasting effects, not only with sports, but with all aspects of your work and personal life as well.

We look at maximizing sports performance from three approaches. This process will stop further performance issues while cleaning up and processing out the old.

Host a Meridian Tapping Presentation For Sports

sport psychologyThe mission of Sport Energetic is to teach and practice Reboot Tapping to as many athletes, coaches and sporting organizations as possible. The goal is to improve sports performance by addressing the emotional component of competitive sports. This aspect is often overlooked.

Reboot Tapping has been shown to be highly effective and efficient for those who practice it and can be learned in a very short period of time. It is our experience that Reboot Tapping is a new path to peak performance and physical health and we would like for every athlete to have the opportunity to know its benefits.

Reboot Tapping is non-invasive, simple to learn and easily utilized by tapping on acupuncture points. It uses the same energy meridians as traditional acupuncture and often helps when everything else failed.

To that end we have developed a series programs. They are fun and informative offerings to athlete’s, coaches and sporting organizations.

Our services are designed to increase sports performance of athletes to challenge them to learn something new that can greatly increase their capacity to cope with any situation both in competition and in their private lives.

As you know your beliefs create your reality. You know that what you radiate you attract. The same universal law of attraction holds true in every aspect of your life…..including sports.

Thus your beliefs about what you desire consciously and what you hold to be true is influencing your current level of success.
