This article appeared in the Golfweek magazine on March 25/2006. If you thought that this stuff is new, think again. Energy psychology for sports and especially golf has proven to make a huge difference in the performance.
Can you afford to not use this amazing technique for your golf game?
The mental game as it pertains to sports performance has progressed to mean so much more than relaxation, meditation, visualization or getting “in the zone”. There are many books and articles that state how such things can improve your game, and they probably do, however, these terms are becoming outdated and now fall under the activities that would be considered practice.
At Sports Energetic we look at the mental game for what it is, “cognitive congruence”, between what we desire consciously and what we hold to be true subconsciously. If these two levels of consciousness are not congruent you will always have conflict. These conflicts will show up physiologically and will affect performance in any sport. Making changes at this level will have personal, long lasting effects, not only with sports, but with all aspects of your work and personal life as well.
We look at maximizing sports performance from three approaches. This process will stop further performance issues while cleaning up and processing out the old.
Whether it’s the chipping yips or the full swing yips the process by which you are afflicted is the same. The yips are not limited to golf but can be experienced by athletes of other sports.
Common symptoms of the yips can be described as a sudden jerking, uncontrollable twitches, shakes and rigidity. These symptoms can lead to poor performance causing anger, frustration, feelings of low self worth and doubt with intense anxiety.
Anxiety is another issue that can aggravate the yips, however, anxiety is not the cause.
There are many theories as to the cause of the yips, but there is one thing for certain…..it’s an inside job.
All yips are caused by unresolved emotional issues that cause a disruption in the body’s energy system. The energetic disruption shows up in the form of a yip. The unresolved emotional issues can be based on negative past performance traumas, childhood traumas or limiting beliefs that we picked up along the way. Our subconscious minds will serve up these little traumas and beliefs whenever our present desires or conscious thoughts are not congruent with what we hold true subconsciously. This cognitive inconsistency is what causes the energetic disruption in the body’s energy system. The result is the yips.
In short the yips are a triggered response to a disruption in the body’s energy system and can be treated easily with Reboot Tapping an enhanced form of Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT).
Not convinced that the solution could be so simple? Read the study that was done in England about the effectiveness of Meridian Tapping for Yips.

No matter how hard you try, you will never play better than what you belief. The good news is that there is a way to change what you belief.
Golf is both a mental and physical game. You can have the best equipment and technique but the slightest anxiety can be the difference between a birdie and a bogie as your thoughts also affect your body.
Every skill level has a number of limiting beliefs that cause that anxiety
“Everybody else plays better than me”
“I never hit the ball where I want it to go”
“I have never been good at sports”
“How will I ever make it to the next level?”
Sports Energetic can transform your game as well as your enjoyment of golf. Our purpose is not to teach you a new technique, but transform your beliefs by removing your internal blocks. No amount of training will yield the desired results unless those blocks are cleared. In order to grow you need to let go of your limiting beliefs.
Our primary tool used is Reboot Tapping an enhanced form of Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT). The benefits will have long range effects that will be evident both on and off the course.
Reboot Tapping makes bad golfers good and good golfers better
